Jurisdictions all over the country have turned to implicit bias training in recent years to identify and acknowledge biases. Little work has been done to go beyond breaking down barriers of understanding that are often the source of biases. Cultural Competency training and policies go beyond mere identification of personal and cultural biases and systemitizes cultural barrier busting through intentional engagement. This project is to develop workshop trainings on cultural competency for police departments, corrections
officers, judges, court administrators, case managers, social workers, prosecutors, public
defenders, and probation and parole officers.
This project will also develop HR, mission statement, and organizational policy changes for courts, DA’s office,
public defender’s office, police and sheriff’s departments, department of corrections/jail
staff, and probation and parole staff.
