Reparations for Sherman, TX

Rosewood and Tulsa were not the only sites of unfettered racially motivated mob violence in the south. In 1930 Sherman, TX experienced an explosion of racial violence that resulted in the lynching of George Hughes on the allegation of rape and subsequent burning of the entire Black Business District in Sherman, TX. This project will help to draft legislation for reparations for the descendants of the Black business owners of Sherman who never rebuilt.
